With the coronavirus restrictions continuing to affect all of us, our usual Christmas sit down dinner unfortunately wasn’t an option this year. So we did what we could to ensure that the occasion was still special for those that are homeless.

We prepared gift packs for all the children of families in temporary accommodation so they all got something to unwrap on Christmas morning as well as those special Christmas Eve pyjamas! We supplied the ingredients for full Christmas dinners to two families and a full Christmas buffet for those in hostel accommodation.

On the day itself, 150 Christmas with Love packs were delivered to all those in temporary accommodation in Chester and Ellesmere Port. The packs included a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, yule log and clotted cream, a handmade and decorated biscuit, Christmas cracker and card as well as a large chocolate bar and tangerine. We were back at Campbell Hall for hot takeaway meals and treats on Boxing Day.

While we missed spending time together we are so grateful to all our volunteers and supporters who helped us spread some Christmas cheer. One of our friends summed up just why it is so important when she said: “I have no family, you are my family”.

A huge shout out to everyone who helped make it happen this year and all year round… Too many to name! But rest assured you are part of our family, making a difficult time a little bit easier to bear. Whatever 2021 throws at us, we’ll keep on being there for each other.
